Educational mobility starts to slow in industrialised world, says OECD

09/09/2014 - Access to education continues to expand worldwide but the socio-economic divisions between tertiary-educated adults and the rest of society are growing. Governments must do more to ensure that everyone has the same opportunity to a good education early in life, according to a new OECD report. 

Education at a Glance 2014 says that educational mobility has started to slow down in the industrialised world. The number of people with lower qualifications than their parents is 9% among 55-64 year-olds to 12% among 35-44 year-olds and 16% among 25-34 year-olds.

Zapraszamy do zapoznania się z rocznikiem statystycznym prezentującym szczegółowe dane dotyczące konkursów, wnioskodawców i beneficjentów konkursów Narodowego Centrum Nauki.


W 2013 r. Centrum rozstrzygnęło 14 konkursów, w których finansowanie otrzymały 2433 projekty badawcze, staże podoktorskie i stypendia doktorskie na łączną kwotę ponad 1 mld zł.

There has been a steady increase in the share of persons aged 30 to 34 in the EU28 who have completed tertiary education, from 24% in 2002, when the series started, to 37% in 2013. The Europe 2020 strategy’s target is to increase the proportion of persons having completed tertiary education to at least 40% of the EU28 population in this age group by 2020.

Innovation statistics

This page provides information about OECD work on innovation surveys and indicators. The OECD has played a key role in the development of international guidelines for surveys of business innovation (Oslo Manual) and the design of indicators constructed with data from such surveys. In addition to developing methodological guidance, the OECD also carries out analytical studies using innovation-related indicators and microdata. This work is guided by the OECD Working Party of National Experts on Science & Technology Indicators (NESTI).
