2/09/2011 - Setting winning policies to foster innovation and scientific breakthroughs is tough even when governments and companies have money to spend. With budgets tight, affecting the long-term direction and performance of science and innovation is even more difficult.
To help policy makers and business leaders understand how the economic crisis will change the Knowledge Economy and to improve international co-operation and collaboration, the OECD is holding a Global Forum in Paris on 12 and 13 September 2011.

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría will open the Forum at 09.30 a.m. on Monday 12 September.

- Mr. Liu Yanhua, Counsellor to the State Council, former Vice Minister of Science and Technology, China;
- Prof. Anil K. Gupta, Professor,Indian Institute of Management, Founder, Honey Bee Network, Executive Vice Chair, National Innovation Foundation, India; and
- Dr. Thane Kreiner, Executive Director, Center for Science, Technology, and Society, Santa Clara University.
Day Two, “Science and innovation for inclusive development,” will focus on: new opportunities in emerging and developing economies; applying innovation to the needs of the poorest; strengthening international co-operation; and sharing innovations.
