New Data on Out-of-School Children - 12 June 2012 UNESCO
Released by the UIS and the EFA Global Monitoring Report
According
to new UIS data, an estimated 61 million children of primary school age
are being denied their right to education. While the global
out-of-school figure has declined over the past 15 years, falling from
102 million in 1990, the new data show that progress began to slow down
in 2005 and has stagnated between 2008 and 2010 (at 61 million based on
revised UN population estimates).
