Rich students should be able to pay international-level fees to guarantee a place at university, a vice-chancellor has suggested.
Prof Ruth Farwell said by paying their way, wealthy students could help plug the multi-million pound funding gap in the higher education budget.
There is no cap on the number of foreign students being admitted to British universities, but there are strict rules about the number of domestic and EU students allowed to take up places.
